With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sandra Lou Elizabeth Bridget Doyle Bonnecarrere McKenzie on February 22, 2025, at the age of 84.

Sandra was born in Plattsburgh, NY, but her formative years were spent in New Orleans, LA, - a city that always held a special place in her heart. It was here that Sandra met and married Jules L. Bonnecarrere, Jr., and from this union they had three daughters together, Jon Nan, Suzanne, and Celeste.

After Jules' passing, Sandra found love again and remarried James (J.B.) McKenzie. It was when they moved to Billings, MT, that Sandra embraced a new chapter of her life. Together they raised their blended family which included Jim, Linda, and Sandi. After J.B. retired, the couple enjoyed several wonderful years living in Hawaii before returning home to New Orleans. Following J.B’s passing, Sandra moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where she spent her later years.

Sandra was known for her love of cooking, theater and acting, and she had a passion for sailing. Her resilience was shaped by deep losses she endured early in life, including the death of her brother John Haskell Doyle, her sister Phyllis Nan Doyle, and her nephew George Dendinger III.

She is survived by her children Jon Nan (Jerry) Schenk, Suzanne Aspy, and Celeste Bonnecarrere, along with 11 grandchildren, and 25 great-grands. Sandra is also survived by her special friend Richard Hecker. Sandra was preceded in death by her first husband, Jules L. Bonnecarrere, Jr.; her second husband, J.B. McKenzie; her parents Haskell and Naomi Doyle; and many beloved family members who welcomed her with open arms in the next life.

A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held in New Orleans at a later date.
